Author Guideline
AUTHOR GUIDELINES
General Information
Indonesian Journal of Nursing Case Studies (IJNCS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan. IJNCS focuses on the publication of high-quality nursing case studies that contribute to clinical nursing practice, education, and evidence-based care.
Submitted manuscripts must be original, have not been previously published, and must not be under consideration by other journals.
Article Type
Indonesian Journal of Nursing Case Study (IJNCS) accepts case study articles that provide significant contributions to nursing knowledge and practice. Submissions may include:
1. Unique or rare patient cases with implications for nursing care;
2. Innovative nursing interventions or clinical decision-making;
3. Cases that reflect challenges in ethical, cultural, or interprofessional nursing practice;
4. Community-based nursing experiences that contribute to health promotion or disease prevention.
Case studies should clearly describe the background, clinical context, nursing interventions, outcomes, and implications for practice, education, or future research. Manuscripts must demonstrate relevance to professional nursing and evidence-based practice.
Language
Manuscripts must be written in English using clear, concise, and appropriate academic and clinical nursing terminology.
Manuscript Format and Structure
Authors must use the official IJNCS template. Manuscripts should be prepared in the following order:
A. Title Page

Title: Concise, informative, and reflecting the nursing case study

Authors’ Names: Full names without academic titles
-
Affiliations: Faculty, University, Province, Country
-
Corresponding Author: Name, affiliation, and email address
B. Abstract
The abstract must be structured and written in English, with a maximum of 250 words, consisting of the following subheadings:

Case Presentation
-
Nursing Intervention
-
Conclusion
The abstract should summarize the essential aspects of the case study. No references are allowed in the abstract.
C. Keywords

Provide 3–5 keywords
-
Separated by semicolons (;)

Main Manuscript Sections
INTRODUCTION
Provide background information on the case, its significance, and relevance to nursing practice. Include a brief literature review to contextualize the case.
CASE PRESENTATION
This section must be written systematically using the following subheadings:

Patient Information
Demographic data, medical history, and presenting symptoms. -
Clinical Findings
Physical examination results, laboratory findings, and other relevant assessments. -
Timeline
A chronological summary of the patient’s clinical course. -
Diagnostic Assessment
Diagnostic procedures and clinical reasoning. -
Therapeutic Intervention
Nursing interventions provided, including medications, nursing care, therapies, and patient education. -
Follow-up and Outcomes
Patient progress, response to interventions, and current condition.
RESULTS
Present concise findings and their relevance to nursing practice.

DISCUSSION
Analyze the case in relation to existing literature. Discuss implications for nursing practice, challenges encountered, lessons learned, and the contribution of the case to nursing knowledge.
CONCLUSION
Summarize key findings and their relevance to nursing practice. Provide recommendations for future practice or research.
Additional Statements
Acknowledgments
Acknowledge individuals or institutions that contributed to the study but do not meet authorship criteria.
Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
If none, state:
“The authors declare no conflicts of interest.”
Funding
Provide details of funding sources, if any.
If none, state:
“This research did not receive any specific grant from funding agencies in the public, commercial, or not-for-profit sectors.”
Ethical Approval
State whether ethical approval was obtained and from which ethics committee.
Include confirmation of patient informed consent.
References

References must be managed using Mendeley or similar software

Use Vancouver citation style (numeric)

Minimum 15 references

At least 80% must be from journals or proceedings

Journal references: published within the last 5 years

Book references: published within the last 10 years
8. Publication Ethics
IJNCS adheres to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors are responsible for the originality, accuracy, ethical integrity, and transparency of their manuscripts.
9. Submission and Peer Review

Manuscripts must be submitted via the IJNCS Online Journal System (OJS)

All submissions undergo a peer-review process

Editorial decisions are based on scientific quality, relevance, and ethical compliance
Editorial Note
Manuscripts that do not follow the IJNCS Author Guidelines and Template will be returned to authors before review.
