AKTIVITAS KEBUTUHAN SPIRITUAL DENGAN DEPRESI PADA LANSIA
Abstract
Elderly is the final stage of the life cycle, often changing conditions that are not as expected, causing depression. The prevalence of depression in Indonesia in the elderly is estimated to be 10-15% of the entire population. One of the interventions to reduce depression is to do spiritual activities. This study aims to determine the relationship between spiritual need activities and the level of depression in the elderly.
This study used a correlational study with a cross sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 72 respondents, who were taken using consecutive sampling technique. The research instrument used the Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES) and the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Data analysis using the Spearman test.
The results showed that 62.5% of the elderly had high spiritual activity, 79.2% of the elderly did not experience depressive symptoms, and there was a relationship between spiritual need activities and depression level in the elderly with moderate correlation strength and positive correlation direction.
