PENGARUH PENDIDIKAN KESEHATAN TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PERTOLONGAN PERTAMA HIPOTERMIA PADA KOMUNITAS PECINTA ALAM DI KABUPATEN LAMONGAN

Abstract


Hypothermia is a condition in which the body experiences a decrease in temperature below 35ºC. The Nature Lovers Community is at high risk of experiencing hypothermia while climbing. If it is not handled properly, it can be life threatening. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education on the ability of hypothermia first aid in the nature lover community in Lamongan Regency.The research applied a quasi-experimental approach with a pre-test and post-test with a control group. The research sample was taken using cluster random sampling. A total of 68 respondents were divided equally into intervention group and control group. The intervention group was given audio-visual education and demonstration while the control group was given audio-visual education only.The research data was taken with the hypothermia first aid observation sheet instrument. The results of the analysis with the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney test showed a p value of 0.000 or p <0.05, meaning that both groups had an influence on the pre- and post-abilities given to both groups and there were differences between the two groups where the value of the intervention group was more significant than the control group with a difference in the mean value of the intervention group 27.0 and the control group 10.06. Demonstration and audio-visual methods were more effective in improving hypothermic first aid skills compared to solely audio-visual. It is hoped that after being given education, respondents will receive regular hypothermia first aid training
