The Effect of Error Orientation, Subjective Norm and Perceived Behavioural Control on Employees' Personal Attitude in Reporting IKP in Hospitals

Abstrak

Patient safety incident reporting is a fundamental step and prerequisite in building a patient safety culture. Previous studies indicate that only 37.4–67% of medical errors are reported by nurses in hospitals. Data from the hospital’s Quality Committee revealed discrepancies between medical error reports submitted by staff and those recorded by the Patient Safety Team during the January–June 2025 period. This finding indicates that the number of incidents reported by employees does not reflect the actual number of events occurring. Therefore, this study aims to develop recommendations to improve employees’ personal attitudes toward reporting Patient Safety Incidents (PSIs).

This study employed a quantitative research design using a cross-sectional survey method. The research was conducted in a hospital setting. The study population consisted of employees from all service units within the hospital. A total of 114 employees across nine service units were included as the study population, and the entire population was selected as the research sample.
