Abstract

Training is an essential effort to improve the competence and performance of hospital employees. However, the level of employee participation in training programs has not yet reached the established targets. This study aims to analyze employees’ interest in participating in training at the Training Unit of Muhammadiyah Lamongan Hospital. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method with data collected through observation and questionnaires. The results showed that 29.63% of respondents had high interest, while 70.37% were in the moderate interest category. In addition, 30.23% of work units had not achieved the training attendance target. The analysis of problem causes using a fishbone diagram revealed that the low level of interest was influenced by individual factors, methods, management, work environment, and training materials. Improvement efforts were carried out using a Kaizen approach through the innovation of the SHIFT-CARE Learning Improvement Program, which emphasizes flexible scheduling, short-duration training, hybrid learning methods, and periodic evaluation. The findings indicate the need for continuous improvement efforts to enhance employee participation in training in order to support the improvement of hospital service quality.
